Is 16 to young to be engaged? (For my SO)

We were 17 & 18 when we exchanged our promise rings. Little silver bands with our initials and "I love you" engraved on the inside. We decided to do that on our 6 month anniversary of dating, we also decided that we wanted to be married before college started or after a year or so.

1.5 years after that we were married. I was 19 he was 20.

My parents are JUST NOW(7.5 years total, 5.5 years married) saying we were right, and they're a little jealous of our success; our marriage, education level and owning a home before either of us turned 25 among other things, not bragging just putting in the perspective that we told everyone our plans at 17 & 18 and almost everyone laughed in our faces saying we were just "in lust" and nothing would happen.

Take a step back and do what my Meema refers to as the "Where the hell are we going?" talk.

We discussed our game plan for education, our marriage, finances, and when we wanted children.

We talked about our budget pre and post wedding, how aggressive we wanted to be with our life insurance policies/investments and at what time we'd buy a house.

We talked about how school would work. It turns out that being married and BOTH of us in school makes FAFSA pay out more grants and loans. For my husband he even got more scholarships because of his excellent grades and martial status.

We briefly touched on children, for him he knew that I had PCOS and at the time was told I'd never ever be able to have children. Apparently he took that as a challenge and started to be more proactive and help me find non traditional treatments to supplement what my OB had prescribed. We did discuss that we wanted to be paying a mortgage before we started to try and that we definitely wanted 3, but if a 4th happened oh well.

If it sounds like your personal, relationship, educational and financial goals are the same. Go for it, get engaged and enjoy each other!

I voted maybe because I think it depends on maturity and your financial status. Like are you able to get married without having to depend upon your parents or other people all the time? If it's yes then I'd say go for it, but if it's no then you may want to postpone a little while. Just my opinion :)
