Will you expose your child to options?

Question

I'm a free thinker that was raised Pentecostal. My husband is agnostic, raised Baptist. We are thinking about exposing our child to the different religions and beliefs of the world so that they may one day make their own decision. I'm curious of your plans. Will you raise your child how you believe?

Our children will know about religion.. but they'll also know it's made up, fairy-tale hogwash. They can decide for themselves later on if they want to claim some sort of religion for themselves. We won't like it if they did.. but that won't make us love them any less, or treat them any differently.

Yes. But appropriately. I've seen some friends children who are too aware of the worlds problems and its caused anxiety. So it's s balance.

I'm an atheist, my husband calls himself an antitheist. We plan to expose our child to as many religions as possible. I don't think you can make an informed believe system without knowing your options.

My husband and I haven't decided... I'm a free thinker from a mixed-religion household who grew up primarily attending church. My husband is from a non-religious family. Part of me finds it really hard to let go of the tradition of religion, if that makes sense, and I think I would like our child to know that there are different options. My husband thinks I'm being silly because religion is not even slightly part of our current lives and we don't miss it. Sorry if that isn't helpful...

I am so glad when people do this. I was raised Pagan and still am. Whenever the subject comes up of  having kids and religion people get this shocked look and ask "But you are planning to take them to church so they know that there are other religions right?!" Trust me in the US everyone knows that Christianity is an option, their PR and marketing department is great. LOL. I wonder if Christian, Muslim or Jewish parents get the same question, I always assumed they don't.

I'm atheist and my husband is agnostic. We got a book about all of the religions for our oldest so he can learn about all of the different beliefs people hold. I don't want our kids indoctrinated by anyone at a young age. I want them to be old enough that they can make a decision for themselves about whether or not they want to believe. It seems to bother the grandparents a bit, but it isn't their decision. Basically, if they end up deciding to be religious on their own then that is fine.

I'm going to do an object lesson with dofferent colored lenses on sunglasses to learn about how people's beliefs make them see the world very differently. Not till they're old enough to think critically will I expose them to any religion

I will not raise my child on any religion. I was raised in a Christian family, without the choice of religion. I'd rather just let my boys find something to confide in themselves when they're ready
