Working mom

I’ve been with my company for 8 years. I am also 7 months pregnant but I decided to ask for a raise. When I followed up they told me they rather wait until I come back from maternity leave. I honestly don’t know how to respond to that. I feel like my maternity leave shouldn’t have anything to do with my work. I know I have 2 and half months left but I do work hard. I honestly am so angry and have no idea how to respond to that….
