Do I Cancle my gynecologist appointment if I’m on my period?

I’ve been waiting to get in for a couple weeks now and of course my period comes  early. I’m being seen for vaginal pain and will be examined, will they still do that while I’m menstruating? I would prefer not to but I also can’t wait any longer with this pain. Advice?
