I know pull ups would be better to prevent accidents but does it cause issues switching to underwear?

Started naked for 1.5 days the commando for weeks then underwear. "Oh Crap! Potty Training" was a helpful book!

Underwear. Pull-ups were too much like diapers, and we wanted to convey the message that diapers were going away, and were no longer an option. We made a big deal of packing up all the diapers and putting them away  in a tall cupboard. We didn’t want to create any confusion. 
We did use overnight cloth diapers for a few months, though.

Pull ups backfired on me then one day (last week) I said that’s it. No more, only during naps and overnight and now she calls us out if we take too long to take them off of her in the mornings. She got it but I do agree that wearing them as underwear during the day totally confused her.

Pull ups can make it harder for the child. Easier for us, less mess to clean. We did a weekend of just in undies and yeah he would have accidents but he quickly realized he didn’t like peeing in them and he was potty trained by the following week right after turning 2. At bed time he slept in undies because we have a mattress protector on his bed and if he peed he woke up wet and didn’t like it so he only had a few bed time accidents.

We went naked! My son was already 3.5 it took him one day to train because we waited so long and he was very ready. He still has accidents at nights so we do pull-ups at night.

We are in the process of potty training our 3 year old right now. We tried naked, shorts without a diaper, and underwear. He was just taking the underwear and his pants off immediately, same with shorts + no diaper. Running around naked he’s fine and we haven’t had very many messes, he asks to sit on the potty and he does pee a little but he still asks for a diaper to fully empty his bladder or poop. We tried not giving in and letting him have a diaper but he would just hold it until he finally had no choice but to pee on the floor. He just won’t fully go on the toilet and I don’t want him to hold it until the last minute all the time either, so he is currently wearing a diaper and just telling us when he wants to sit on the potty. If it’s been a little bit or he’s been drinking more than normal (hot days) I sit him on it a little more often. We currently use the pampers 360 fit diapers, we have since he was 2. They are exactly like a pull up, but they’re regular diapers.

I tried pull ups/underwear/commando. Nothing worked until my daughter decided she was ready to use the potty. I don’t think it matters because every child is different
