New job?

Trying to rationalize this because I might be crazy. I truly love being around kids and working with kids. I always wanted to be a teacher but went into the healthcare field. I have an associates degree in medical office administration -
My current job : I work full time 7 am - 4/5 pm and usually til 12 on fridays. This is at a doctors  office. I make $15.20 (due for a raise soon) They pay my insurance 100% and contribute to 401k and we get lunch catered by drug reps almost daily. Only 6 mins from my house. Only 3 weeks vacation per year 
New job possible nanny position. Through an agency. Possibly making $20 an hour (could be more) 35 mins from my house though. Working 8-5 some weeks a little longer but no more than 40 hours. But I would be with 2 children it seems like my dream job. I could even take them on outings. Unlimited time off - self employed so no taxes taken out. …
Ughh if it was closer it would be a no brainer. I would take what I’m happy with!! Bc I’m so tired of doing the same boring job daily!
Edit to say I know I still have to pay taxes- was just saying that’s one of the cons - however I guess I could write off mileage?

The difference in pay will be eaten pretty quickly by paying for insurance. And taxes when your self-employed tend to be higher so you’ll end up paying more coke tax time. Also he real sure what “unlimited” time off really means. Because it doesn’t sound like a job where that would be possible. If you think you’d really enjoy the job more it might be worth it. But be really sure you know exactly what you’re getting into.

The pay increase isn't worth it once you factor in the commute (plus gas, mileage, and wear and tear on the car), the loss of 100% paid benefits, and the 401k with the match.

You’re going to be making less hourly by the time you pay for your insurance and taxes. Just keep that in mind 🤷🏼‍♀️

My job is boring too I just sit there all day but atm it’s convenient for me bc I live up the street so I don’t have to spend alot on gas. It’s safer for me in the winter and I love who I work with. But that’s just me. I know you shouldn’t always stay in your comfort zone but do what you feel

Sounds like your current job is better. 
Obviously doing something you love is important too, but you’ll be making less switching to the nanny job due to taxes, insurance, and 401k costs.

You still have to pay taxes when you’re self employed.
I’d go with the job that offers benefits.

Self employed doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay taxes. You can write certain things off but I think it’s like 30% we have to pay at the end of the year. Being self employed doesn’t escape paying taxes so hopefully you have a good savings and continue saving!
