Preeclampsia - can BP fluctuate or does it stay high only?

I’ve heard Preeclamsia presents in different ways. If you get a high blood pressure reading and other accompanying symptoms but then later in the day your blood pressure goes down again, can it still be preeclampsia? Basically can it fluctuate? I couldn’t find any answers online and my doctor doesn’t have after hours numbers. I had some really high blood pressure numbers earlier along with symptoms, but it’s fluctuated through the day and back down to normal now and I’m just not sure what to make of it.
