Sis in law snapped at my 18 month olds face

I love dogs and we have a large standard poodle that is just a big baby. We’ve been around her dog many of times He’s friendly but very skittish. I always watch our son very closely around her dog because I don’t trust other dogs. You just never know!

Well tonight at dinner with family she always brings her dog. I look away for one sec & my son ran to her dog petting him and the dog barks & snaps at my sons face.

My husband reacted by *lightly* slapping the dog away and scooped up our son. (I personally would’ve threw the dog outside)

I run up to make sure he’s okay and he had some blood on his lip but not sure if he bit his own lip because it was just a tiny mark and the dog is big. Our son is screaming hysterically. It scared the shit out of me because I was bit badly when I was three but I have a scar on my face.

Well SIL gets pissed that my husband slapped her dog away. She didn’t even take the dog her stupid dog kept trying to get up in our sons face while he was screaming in my lap.

Personally I would apologize for my dog biting anyone and make the dog go outside.

Whose in the wrong here?

This happened right in front of SIL she was watching him the entire time. I was making a plate of dinner and trying to watch from the corner of my eye while my husband was holding our newborn.
