Is a Double stroller necessary? My first baby will be 1.5years old when the next baby arrives.

I hated my double stroller. 
It was one of the nicer ones that everyone was recommending. But it was way too bulky, heavy, bumped into everything, but older son never wanted to sit in it, etc. 
Some strollers have the option for the older sibling to have a spot to stand on instead which I think would’ve been a lot better for my older son as he hated having to stay seated.

I think it's hard to say if its necessary to have a double stroller as it depends what you like and what's easier for your LOs. I personally have a double stroller and it does make walks and store runs easy with having my newborn and 2 yr old in a stroller (I'm mainly alone with the LOs). I do also have a separate small compact travel stroller for my 2 yr old that we used on vacation that may come in handy for the days when my husband and I can each have one child in a stroller and not have the big bulky double stroller. For us it was absolutely necessary - as in we wouldn't function without one. We had a mountain buggy duet and an uppababy vista, loves the duet, hated the vista.
My kids are 22 months apart, and both napped in the stroller and we walk everywhere.

We had both a side by side one and the kind where the older kiddo could stand or sit. Last summer my kids were 6 months and 3. The older one still napped so it was helpful to have the side by side one. This spring, my kids were 1 and 4 and I found a Chico Bravo for 2 at consignment. It’s perfect for my almost 5 year old. He doesn’t nap much anymore and we got to a lot of amusement parks and have season passes for a local one. At the end of the day, him being able to sit or stand on it is SO helpful. The only thing I don’t like about it is the part for the smaller kid doesn’t recline much so if she needs to nap, I put a towel folded up on the bar in front of her and she ends up leaning forward to sleep lol

I opted for a wagon instead of a double stroller. The wagon I got has an infant car seat attachment, so I can use it right away. I felt like in the long run the wagon would get more use and last longer. Plus it has space for a cooler attachment and the kids can lay down when they’re tired without bothering each other.

I usually wore the baby and my kids ride balance bikes as soon as they can reach the ground while standing on the bike. We also have a wagon that has gotten so much use beyond just the kids. I haul plants and mulch around in it constantly lol Its a radio flyer all terrain (with the fat tires). Mostly they prefer to ride their bikes though.

Yes!!! You older one will make you hold him/her in the middle of your walk while you push your stroller uphill. 😂

We have the wonderfold wagon which has worked out great for my first two, 4yo and 1yo. I baby wear so once this baby is old enough to go in the wagon, ~6-8mo, I'll put him in the wagon. I think a wagon is way more versatile and less bulky than a double stroller.

Didn’t get a double stroller because I’m petite in general and it’s a hassle. HOWEVER, I got a stroller called the sit and stand and it’s by far the greatest thing ever!

I’ve got the moving bird single to double. It’s absolutely necessary for me. I walk at least 2 miles every morning and evening
