Can getting cervical checks dilate the cervix more?

Do cervix checks help you progress more?

Not sure they help, but I had one at 35 weeks. I felt really sick to my stomach after. I'm going to decline in the future. Seems unnecessary.

I had a cervical check at 37 weeks and went into labor 3 days later

They can, but they also increase your risk for infection. Most practitioners are shying away from them. There’s really no good indication for them, especially because a closed cervix doesn’t mean labor isn’t near and being dilated 2cm doesn’t mean labor is imminent either.
