Red bleeding 5 weeks

Pink spotting started yesterday . Very faint and light , thought it was implantation bleeding . Woke up to bright red .. no cramping and not enough to fill a pad . Went to the ER , hcg was 4000 and ultrasound showed sac and that I was 5 weeks and 2 days . Because it was too early to see baby they said the only way to know if pregnancy is progressing is checking hcg in two days . They told me sometimes they see this bleeding and it’s totally normal for some moms . I was shocked to hear that . I’ve had bright red everytime I wipe and some in my panty liner . Then when I wipe there was more of the tiniest clot (talking the size of a pen dot ) this waiting is going to be the hardest :( has anyone had this and it go on being normal?
