How to mentally prepare for birth?

Hi ladies, so basically I am terrified of pain and the thought of giving birth has been scaring me lately. I know my body is capable of it but I can’t overcome the painful thoughts.

I mean even when I go to have my blood drawn I almost always have a vasovagal response 🤦‍♀️ I don’t do well with needles.

So my question is how do you mentally prepare for birth? I want to be able to calm myself through the contractions and possibly do it without an epidural
