Struggling with Autism

Natalie

My son hasn’t had a diagnosis yet and is unlikely to get one for another few years, or so I’m told.

But he’s being treated as though he’s had the diagnosis, he’s non verbal and all of his teachers are confident that he is on the spectrum. I have been saying I think he might be since he was about 18 months.

He’s taken it all in his stride and so have I, but boy do I struggle when it comes to feeding him.

He eats sausages. He’ll eat in in a hot dog form, a sausage roll, or just plain but it has to be sausage. He’ll eat porridge in the morning and fruit here and there, but only specific fruit portioned specifically.

Any tips on how to expand his eating habits cause at the moment he’s flat refusing anything else and I really don’t like upsetting him in my attempts to get him to try new things, but I’m also at my wits end!
