Does Television (only the audio) help with language development?

Kristina

When my baby was first born I was told to make sure I keep as noisy an environment as was possible while they sleep, but not noisy enough to startle her awake, that way she would learn to sleep through noise during her day time naps. Nothing louder than say, like, a vacuum cleaner running, though.

I was also told to constanly talk to my baby. I am a stay at home mom and not muchnof a talker. My baby takes forver to breastfeed, usually about an hour, and since my hands are tied so to speak, i usually watch TV while she eats. I dont let her watch TV per the American Academy of Pediatrics, but i was curious if, since i usually watch shows in which there's a lot of talking, if this does any good for my baby to listen to it. And because ofthe whole keep baby's environment noisy concept, i usually keep the TV running on the backgroujd for her now, even if im not watching it myself. I guess im just hoping all this constant stream of conversation does her any good at all, even if only a little? Im just curious.
