Baby shower was a disaster ðŸ˜
I had my shower today and nothing went as planned. I need to vent!
Out of the 34 people I invited, 15 rsvp’d and 4 showed up (not including my mom, step dad and step sisters bc it was at their house). I was a bit bummed by that because I spent so much time and money on food and decorations. The people that did show up have been my main support system throughout my pregnancy so I am so grateful for them.
I still tried to make the best of it with the people that came, but my lovely step sisters killed my mood. We were never really close since our parents married while I was an adult, and they treat my mother like crap so I am also not too fond of them. I am always very respectful and kind to them and I try to engage in conversation. Well they showed up 2 hours late in pajamas and did not even acknowledge me or say a single word to me. They just went straight for the food and isolated themselves in the other room. When my mom was cleaning up after everyone ate they tried to steal a whole dish of food and take it back to their moms house. My mom asked them to not do that since it was for everyone at the shower and they got a horrible attitude with my mom.
Then to top it all off, while I was opening gifts I started to feel very off and unwell. I checked my blood pressure and it sky rocketed to 140/110. I almost had to rush to the hospital. Luckily it dropped almost as quickly as it rose and stabilized. I have mild preeclampsia and have had a really rough time lately so this was a huge scare.
Even though it was a rough and kind of upsetting day, I am happy I got to spend it with the people that have been there for me the most.
