I finally resigned

Chef Cara • Currently cook for a fine dining restaurant in Traverse City. Single, 29, chef, would love to be a mom someday.

For those of you who have been following my last two posts I finally sent the general manager my resignation via text on Thursday and I actually applied to multiple chef jobs last week and already have quite a bit of interviews lined up next week due to my impressive resume. So I'm super excited. When one door closes another opens.

The last straw was after the general manager contacted my mother Friday the 28th and left a voicemail as she's my emergency contact. I sent him a text from my new number. I told him I was having issues with my incisions and I had a follow-up appt on Nov 7th and they will make a decision then if I'm cleared to go back to work. Hoping he would back off for a bit.

He texts me this past Wednesday (5 days later) asking me how am I feeling and if I can work a couple of days next week. I hadn't even had my appt yet and I'm still not cleared by the doctor. I don't respond at all. Then he messages me the next morning asking me "how are you?". I didn't respond and then later sent my resignation text.

The other head chef has not contacted me once since we spoke after my post op as he knew he was expecting me back in the middle of Nov and the general manager knew it as well. But the GM had no regards to my health and wanted me back to work a week later. He has been blowing up my phone since at least once or twice a week to get me to come to work.

They didn't even want me to come back without a work release in the first place but the gm didn't care about that anymore after the doctor said they wouldn't give me one until I fully recovered for the whole 6 weeks.

Here's my post
