Selena Gomez received a kidney transplant from her then best friend Francia Raisa in 2017. This was considered a life saving procedure. Although you can live a normal life with one kidney, Francia had a very long recovery with some complications and has had to live a completely new life with only one. Selena initially was very publicly grateful for the donation but now the two former besties are estranged. According to Francia, Selena started partying again and drinking heavily. Francia saw it as an insult and disrespectful as she just willingly gave Selena her organ and Selena proceeded to damage it. Recently Selena said in an interview that Taylor Swift is her only friend in the industry and referred to Francia simply as “the girl who gave me her kidney”. Pro Selena side states Francia has no right to tell Selena not to drink/party and that it was her choice to donate her kidney and Selena is free to do what she wants with her life. Pro Francia side states that Selena is selfish and self absorbed for so easily writing off the person who went through a life threatening and life altering procedure to save her life.
