15 month old bites

My 15 month old daughter bites, usually playfully but it hurts. She’s gone through phases of biting forever but now I feel like she can really understand me when I say no, but she laughs and tries harder when I push her away and sternly say no. If it’s during the day while we are just playing I can usually just avoid her getting that close to me when she’s in a biting mood, but the problem is mostly at night when I’m cuddling her before bed. If she bites I say “no I can’t hold you when you hurt me” and set her down, but I don’t want her to have to cry herself to sleep, so I will pick her back up after a few minutes just to get bit again… everyone says to spank her or flick her face but I don’t want to physically punish her, but she also laughs at me when I try to be stern so I really don’t know how else to show her I’m serious. Any tips?

You need to be consistent with your follow through. If you tell her you can’t hold her when she’s biting, but turn around and pick her back up you’re reinforcing the negative behaviour. You need to find a way to be consistent and redirect her. She’s young, so definitely something she’ll be able to process.

I mean pick something she’ll be able to process since she’s young. Sorry, that didn’t type out as well as I had imagined lol
