Weddings/marriage advice help!?

So I’m planning on getting married in November 2023. I don’t really have family. So I want something small but intimate. I’m from ohio if that helps any. How do I find someone that’s ordained to marry us? What are some do’s and don’t? I don’t know anything about getting married or weddings? Can anyone tell me what I need to know?

So far all I know is we did change the date to September 23,2023. Which is 10 months away. I’m going tomorrow to book the community center for the reception. Which is where his parents got married and his grandfather used to own the community center. So it’s a meaningful place. I am leaning towards the actual ceremony being at his parents house on his family farm.

Well the first thing on the list is the marriage license. Usually valid for 30 days you get that from the health department or vital statistics depending where you live. You pay for the license and show ID, you need 2 witnesses to sign the day you get married and 1 when you get the license. Each state is different might as well take 2 with you just in case you state is different or call and ask what is required, how much and how many witnesses. Google ordained ministers near me or you can have a friend get ordained on the internet or a judge or other government officials religious affiliates. Find the place you want to get married. Normally you book the venue for the reception. first to make sure it’s available. Church or no church your choice that it’s available. Invite who you want formal or informal invitations. The meal. The flowers. If you want a photographer or videographer. Music. Cake. Table gifts. Brides maid if you want them, flower girl, ring bearer again only if you want them. Your dress. Tuxedo or suits. For the groom or ushers or best man. You can get married on a beach in shorts with just you him witnesses and officiant. Whatever you decide. Once married the license has to be filed and usually in 2 weeks you go back and pay for copies of the marriage certificate. Make sure everyone signs after you are married and it gets filed.
