How do you know when you’re in love?

This has been a big question of mine. I’m not sure if i’ve ever been in love. Im not even sure im in love right now. I think i am. But this feeling is new to me. How do i differentiate “love” and “lust” or the “idea” of the person vs reality?

i fell back in love with my partner the other night. it was a quiet, calm feeling that slowly washed over me.
he was brushing his teeth in the living room, scrolling on his phone, and i just couldn’t stop looking at him and thinking about just how much i want him in my life. not only as a father to our daughter, but as my best friend and companion through it all.
we have been together going on 5 years and he is still the greatest. he’s a manager, he’ll come home from work and i’ll ask how his day was and then think about how smart and hardworking he is while he rants about customers. we’ll sit quietly and he’ll play video games and i’ll watch and talk about them with him (sometimes i’ll request a certain game to watch). we don’t often cook/shower/do couple things together, but all of the time we spend feels genuine and well-spent.
it sounds cheesy, and it is. i have been head over heels for this man since day one.
i guess what i’m trying to say is that the feeling of love is warm, calm, and blissful. you don’t feel those intense butterflies as much, but rather a cozy fireplace in your heart. at least for me 👉🏻👈🏻
