Short Maternity Leave

I have a potential job opportunity in a Remote position, I won’t qualify for FMLA because I am a new employee so I would have to negotiate with my employer.

Since its a role that requires very minimal physical demand (Just sitting at a desk in my own home)

I am considering to request only 2 weeks off , while hospitals recommend 6 weeks off I don’t feel it’s necessary for a Remote position. I feel I would put my mental health in jeopardy by taking a full 6 weeks off I can’t handle the anxiety of not being productive and not working , I have struggled with homelessness and poverty so I feel like working helps me stay in control of that to never happen to me again.

I’m a first time mom so I would like to hear other moms insight on my decision ? Should I take more than 2 weeks and why do you recommend to do so ? There may be things I haven’t accounted for so I would like to hear other viewpoints 😊
