Any tips / suggestions to help a 3 year old that always has a cold and cough?
I’m really hoping someone can suggest anything I can try, to help my toddler that always seems to have a cough and cold.
My daughter will be 3 in January. At least one a month, she has a cold and cough for 1-2 weeks. It’s been like this for several months, and I’ve told the pediatrician I am worried about her immune system, but she told me she is just a typical snotty daycare kid. Every time she is sick though she ends up vomiting (gag reflex from the cough) and most of the time she gets a fever.
I give her gummy vitamins every day and even started to give her the Zarbees elderberry vitamins for immune support. We also have a nebulizer and a bunch of extra albuterol her pediatrician prescribed, and told us to use it anytime she gets a cough to try and stay ahead of it.
She started sounding snotty on Saturday so I got her the saline spray and one of those neti pot things to try and clear out the gunk. She started to cough last night so i decided to try giving her honey (I think that helped? But not really sure). I’ve been giving her the elderberry gummies, doing the saline treatments, hot bath with steam, honey and breathing treatments. Idk what else I can do to try and keep it from getting bad like it always does. Does anyone have any tips / tricks / suggestions on what I can do to ease her cold symptoms and help her kick the illnesses faster? I hate seeing her miserable but I’ve also been missing a LOT of work from the other times she’s been sick, and I’m afraid to keep missing more.
