My bf and I are long distance across the world for 5 months. We FaceTime regularly and he rarely compliments me or calls me pretty while we’re talking on FT unless I send him nudes or selfies or something. I compliment him (I could more) but he doesn’t reciprocate.

I brought it up after being a bit sad about it and really made it clear it’s something I really appreciate and honestly need during long distance to feel secure sometimes. He said he would really put in the effort to do better, it’s been a week and he still hasn’t said it once. I’ve complimented him probably 5 times in this same period. Our time on FaceTime is the closest thing we have to being in person and when he never compliments me it makes me sad. How would you proceed in this situation?
