Fever…what to do??

FTM here…16 month old has 102.5 temp. Some lethargy and coughing here and there. Should we give Motrin and see?? Or go to doc right away??

Give them fever reducing meds, and then monitor. Keep them hydrated and let them rest. 
That fever is not high enough to warrant a trip to the hospital.

I would give motrin and recheck temp in half an hour, it should go down by about 2 degrees, if it it gets up to 104 then I would take her in. A cool bath or cool washcloth should help it go down also. If it keeps spiking then you can alternate Motrin and Tylenol every 3-4 hours.

We don’t fear fevers in our house. It’s all about comfort. 
If my daughter wants to cuddle, we cuddle. Cuddling can help raise her temp slightly, usually just enough to break the fever. If she is uncomfortable and striping off her clothes we do a cool bath.

Give Tylenol now and every 4 hours. Wait a bit and give Motrin (over 6 months) every 6 hours. Write down when you've given each to keep track and temp babe from time to time. Write it down. If you bring kiddo in, they may wish to see this data.
