Hi, for context. I broke up with this guy a few weeks ago because of some behavior I didn’t like, that he kept promising to change and never did. Well after we broke up he started doing all the things he promised before in hopes I would come back. We’ve stayed close since the break up and he wants another chance. There is a lot of anxiety for me with giving him another chance(he knows what he did really hurt me), and I’m scared saying no because I’d also lose a great friend. My parents want me to date more people and at least give myself some time to heal from what he did.

—-So his mom, who really loves me and I’m not sure what ex has said to her, texted me asking to meet for lunch soon. I’m thinking that she thinks we are back together. How do I tell her that we aren’t together rn, and still figuring it out but also I wouldn’t mind going to lunch with her?
