My 2 month old and I are both being treated for thrush right now, I was told to wipe the ointment off my nipples before feeding her. Tonight when she was done breastfeeding she got her medicine and I put mine on. She stayed awake a bit for tummy time and then slept for three hours before waking up again. I had a million things going through my mind and when she woke up, I immediately put her on my boob. When I went to switch sides I took out the nursing pad and saw it had a bit of yellow stain on it, and it hit me that I never washed the ointment off before feeding her! Obviously I freaked out and called poison control immediately, she said my baby should be just fine and if anything she might have an upset tummy tonight but I just feel like such a shit mom. I forgot to do something so simple and I could have hurt my baby.
