Odd bedtime behaviors
My 16 month old has some odd sensory seeking behaviors right before falling asleep. He bounces up and down on my lap, does back bends and flails his head around, shakes his head no and sings or yells out. He also wiggles around and will rub his body on me or even on the ground if he is tired and not being held. He has done this for awhile, anyone else experience this? He also startles in sleep sometimes. It makes putting him down difficult.
He obviously is looking for sensory stimulation. Wondering if there is a way I could help him fall asleep himself rather than go through all that before getting to sleep.
Also I can’t help but feeling like these are odd behaviors, he has always have sleep issues and doesn’t fall to sleep on his own. We have struggled this entire time.
Other than these behaviors he is on every milestone even advanced in some of them (to be honest he acts more like a 2 year old than 16 month old) but he is very strong willed and stubborn so it’s possible these are learned behaviors to avoid sleep. Just venting or seeing if anyones babe is similar.
