Have you ever had an unmedicated, at home birth?

Tell me your stories if you’d like!
This is my 3rd pregnancy. Both other babies I had medicated and in a hospital. This time I want to do things completely different and try unmedicated and at home. Only vaginal births, no interventions needed, low risk.

We had a planned home birth with our son, who was also my first baby! It was amazing!!!! 11/10 recommend if you’re able! I never had a hospital birth obviously bc I only have 1 kiddo, but I never ever want a hospital birth after having a home birth. And I’ll admit, all of the bad “what if” things, happened to me. I tore upward and almost tore off my left labia completely, and with that I tore an artery in my labia (didn’t know that was a thing) and hemorrhaged over 5 cups of blood. 😅
It wasn’t due to the home birth, either, it was just because my son came FASTTTT and there wasn’t time for the tissues down there to stretch gradually lol. It was all handled super well by my midwife at home though and I never needed a hospital transfer. Did end up with 50+ stitches and that wasn’t pleasant but it was just amazing being at home.
It was so intimate and blissful. Being able to be in my own bed was outstanding. It was also SOO empowering to experience raw, natural birth the way it was designed. Like a “dang dude, I really did that” 😂
I loved being in control, no doctors or nurses telling me what I “had” to do or trying to scare me into anything I didn’t want to do. My water broke 36 hours before I had my first contraction so I know had I been at a hospital, it would’ve been “pitocin/c-section or else your baby will die!!” When that surely wasn’t the case.
I seriously couldn’t say enough amazing things about home birth if you have a normal/low risk pregnancy. Definitely go for it!!!!

I’ve had 2 home births and they were the best omg. My last baby was born in the water and I really recommend a water birth. Having baby at home is so relaxing, calming, and stress free. There’s not anxiety, no people telling you what to do. You just do whatever you feel comfortable with. Change positions, walk around, eat (yes EAT!), drink whatever you want. It’s purely the best experience. I’m planning my 3rd home birth. 
Find a good midwife, ask your questions. You wouldn’t regret it.

Hi there! I had my second baby at home and it was amazing. She was large (10 lbs and 22 inches) and we were aware she would be as my first was almost as big and I had zero issues. I trusted my birth team and my doula and felt so safe the entire time. We lived 5 minutes from the hospital and had gone through so many questions and scenarios in what we would do if certain things happened. 
I was hoping for my first to also be a home birth but my water had been broken too long and labor pretty much stalled so I ended up getting Pitocin and finally caving at 6cm for the epidural. For me personally the induced contractions were worse than natural unmedicated ones!! 
I also had a third baby as a surrogate in June this year but I ended up needing a c section which was rough (i hemorrhaged and required a blood transfusion 😩😩)  So I’ve experienced the 3 different types of births and they were vastly different and all had pros and cons but my home birth was hands down the easiest to heal from and I look back on my daughters birth so fondly 😊😊 wishing you the best of luck and I hope we were able to help!!

I had an unmedicated birth at the hospital with my first,  then an unmedicated birth at home with my second.  
Both went well.  4 hours labor at hospital before birth,  no meds. Was induced though.  
Second,  had the baby in an hour and a half, natural water break.  My midwife said it was preceptitous birth, which is why it went so quickly.  
I just made up my mind long before that i didn't want a needle in my back.  Even my sister in law who's a nurse told me to avoid it if i could,  because they didn't get hers right during one birth, and she can still feel where they stuck the needle at times years later.  No thank you.  
I had some complications arise after. Minor vaginal prolapse. But i didn't do good with my breathing and pushing being in sync.  Things went really fast and i freaked out a little. 
Did physical therapy for prolapse and am doing well, currently pregnant with baby #3, halfway through.  
Fully intend to have non medicated birth again,  unless complications due to the prolapse come up.  
You can totally do it. You just have to put your mind to it now,  watch videos on breathing and being in sync with your pelvic floor to push your baby out effectively and safely.  It greatly reduces the pain and anxiety if you do.

I wouldn't feel comfortable birthing at home because I'm a worrywart, but I did have an unmedicated birth at a hospital. It was great.

I dream of doing this! I wanted to with my first but my midwives were at the hospital delivering another baby and my water broke at home with no contractions and I was gbs positive so I needed the antibiotics. If I didn’t need the antibiotics I could have waited at home for the midwives and carried on but that’s okay. My second pregnancy was twins so obviously advised to go into the hospital but I’m hoping I can have 1 more kids and have a home birth and everything go how I visioned my first going. I’ve only had vaginal births and all 3 went very smoothly but we’re with epidural. I got to 6cm with the twins before I was advised to get epidural in case of emergency. I still regret that to this day but babies are safe and healthy so that’s what I remind myself of. I’m in Canada as well so home births are pretty common surprisingly.

Yep had 3 homebirths, hopefully 4th when I give birth in May. I live in Canada and if you opt for midwife care, and have a healthy normal pregnancy, you may choose home over hospital birth. The midwives travel with equipment equivalent to a 'level one" hospital and we are pre registeted at the local hosp just in case. Loved my experiences -- such a beautiful way to welcome new life.
