Is This An Okay Punishment?
Or are we being too hard?
My daughter turns 12 next month. She started middle school last fall so she’s still in her first year. I got her a phone for her 11th birthday because I felt she was responsible enough but about 7 months later, she had texted a wrong number that ended up being a grown man and she sent selfies to him, and lied to me about it, so we took the phone away. Well for Christmas I got her a Polaroid camera which now I realize was a stupid idea, because she loves taking pictures of her siblings and nature when we go for walks, etc, she attends lots of school functions and I thought she would love it. Anyway today I had to go pick her up because she had bled thru her clothes and was crying, and when we got home I saw one of her Polaroid pics on the floor of the kitchen so I bent down to grab it and notice she is in her bra and jeans with her hands on her hips being sassy, and it had writing on it “Am I stunning? Yes or no?” So obviously she was going to give this to someone at school. She promises she wasn’t and that she was “just goofing off” but still. Her dad and I told her that she must’ve had too much free time on her hands so we took away her camera and gave her extra chores. In a way I feel like it’s appropriate but in another way I want to believe her. I just don’t. :/
