How do you stop 🛑 kids from hitting you?

What are good coping skills for children? When he doesn't get his way he gets angry and will punch so I'm scared like if I don't do something he's going to hit me and it's not right I'm the parent and he shouldn't be hitting ages 6-7

If your child is 6-7 years old and hitting then I suggest you could search out professional help because it takes a family effort approach at that age. Talk to school and see what resources they can suggest?

We do gentle parenting and attachment parenting. My son is 6 and he occasionally hits and bites which is developmentally normal for his age. Sometimes he struggles with big emotions and it comes out physically. We do logical and natural consequences. We practice safe body. 
When he’s angry and goes to hit, we stay calm. Yes, he’s the child and you’re the parent but that doesn’t negate brain development and impulse control. We tell our child that hitting isn’t ok and practice safe body. We validate his emotions. We do bunny breathing to help him calm down. We do color grounding as well. 
We don’t take things away when he hits because it’s not logical. His toys aren’t tied to him hitting and it doesn’t make sense to take those. We do “time ins” where we hold him and help him work through those emotions.

With toddlers you say “use kind hands” and show them what kind hands are for example take their hand and stroke your face with their hand and say kind hands etc
As for a six plus year old I’m not sure as it’s something I’ve never experienced. I’ve worked in a school for many years and when a child ‘lost control’ we would find a safe space for them ‘sensory room’ stay nearby and allow them to feel their emotions and only when had they calmed down would we discuss the bad behaviour and what things they could do instead etc. also what we found important was to ensure that fixed cleaned up (for example if in a rage they flip chairs rip books etc then only after they were really calm and things had be discussed would we inform them they had to put chair back, pick up pieces of ripped book etc.
Is your child hitting you in a rage? Or out of impulse?

Consequences. If he’s scared of the consequences, he won’t do it. Take away whatever he doesn’t want to lose. For example of my sons naughty, he loses his Xbox. If my daughters naughty, she loses her dollhouse. Or they lose the chance to play with friends or go to the movies or anything we have planned, etc.
