Can a fart smell stick to fabrics?

I’m not being funny at all by asking this. I’m being serious.

My husband has belly troubles all the time. He’s either horribly gassy or having diarrhea and sometimes he goes to the bathroom at least 12 times a day. I keep telling him to go to the doctor but he thinks it’s just because he doesn’t eat right. I have tried to buy him healthier snacks and I do cook nutritious dinners with meats and veggies but he won’t touch vegetables or fruit. He only will eat the meat and breads.

Anyway, I feel like I use so much febreze and wash bedding constantly because it always smells like a fart where he’s been sitting but it doesn’t go away. :/ Our room stinks. We don’t have pets either so it’s not a dog or cat smell. The only thing I haven’t tried is him going gluten free. Idk. He had to call out of work today bc of his stomach. I hate that he won’t go to the doctor about it and that he feels bad. But I dunno what to do.
