Was this okay or should I take him back to school?
My son is in kindergarten this year and usually he’s fired up ready to go and excited. But this morning it was hard to wake him up and he was very quiet and groggy getting ready. When we got to the drop off line, he started crying and saying he was tired and wouldn’t get out of the car. I’m due any day now with his little brother so I couldn’t really turn around to reach more than his leg unless I’d gotten out of the car. Anyway I just drove up to the parking area and got out so I wasn’t taking up the line and tried to talk to him. He cried and said he was tired. I went ahead and came back home but on the way I explained that he can’t do this all the time. Tomorrow he will have to go on to school with his friends even if he is tired. He’s never done this before so I’m just counting it as a “mental health day” because getting irritated at him and making him get out and cry in front of friends and teachers would’ve just made us both feel worse. Do you think this was okay?
