How to fix temperature in lo’s room?

So my lo is 7 months and currently is sleeping in her crib in my room. The heat rotation in my house gets to her room last. What should I do? Space heater? Layer her up? It’s 70 in my room and 67 in hers? Help! Any suggestions?

67-70 is ideal temps for a baby.

Definitely not a space heater, those things could cause the room to overheat and catch fire. I would just layer up more, our babies room is the same and we just have him in more layers under his sleep sack.

My child has always slept better in the cold. Her room is around 65-68 degrees and she’s dressed in a fleece footie and a cotton sleep sack, sleeps happily through the night. In the summer when it’s warmer, sometimes up to 72 degrees in her room, she sleeps nakey in the cotton sleep sack and she usually tosses and turns all night and wakes sweaty.

My sons room is the same and some nights gets down to about 69, usually stays around 65/66, but if I put it any higher my daughter roasts in her room. We layer my son in a short sleeve onesie, long sleeve footie pjs, a long sleeve sleep sack that is about 1.0 tog then a heavier sleeveless sleep sack that is 2.5 tog (linked below).

We use space heaters. I see it’s not popular but we don’t have central heating. Our heat source is by wood stove, and it doesn’t reach the bedrooms no matter what we do. It gets down to 50-55 degrees in there and I can’t dress them warm enough for that comfortably. I’m also up every hour with my youngest at night and often wind up sleeping in her room with her. I check on them constantly. We do not use space heaters once the temperature stays above 65 degrees at night weather wise.

We are in a chilly basement. I keep the kids rooms at 67. They sleep better in cooler rooms, but I do have space heaters in each of the rooms because it gets really really cold and we have no control over it. My husband is an electrician and family is all fire fighters. If you’re smart about it they’re not a problem.
