Nappy cream; which one and how often to use?

Use it after every nappy change? Or just night time or when the baby has rash? 
What other products can you use?

Only when they have a rash. We use the jelly auqaphor since everything else doesn't work for our kids.

Triple paste or blue or purple Destin! Change diapers frequently though.

We've only ever used it in the very rare occasion they got a rash.

We use destin or aquaphor and only when it gets a little red. Neither of my kids have had bad diaper rashes so they don’t need it every diaper. 
For really bad diaper rashes (my sister and nephews would get them bad), we dabbed a generous amount of pepto (pink liquid stomach medication) on the infected area.
