Do you think pit-bulls are dangerous?

I think they are because of the amount of attacks caused by them.But people say it’s not the dogs fault and that it’s the way some of their owners treat them.

Yes, pitbulls make up for the largest number of reported attacks per year. Pitbulls are also overbred, and one of the dogs listed as most commonly found in shelters (because of backyard /bad ethics breeding and bad owners). They are one of the top backyard bred dogs. Pitbulls were originally bred for being baiting dogs (to bite and hold bulls). Once this practice stopped it changed to breeding them for fighting. The biggest trait that was bred in due to this is the ability to go from 0-100 fast..they posess the ability to be more reactive than other breeds. I say this as someone who owns a pit, loves pits, and has been a dog trainer and read multiple books of breeds and origins of dogs. They are not all "just dangerous". Ive worked with hundreds of dogs in kennel and training settings. Ive been bit twice in the kennel, neither was a pit. Pitbulls however are more reactive- it's their genetics. It's on us as humans and pet owners to do right by them with proper training and handling. I have a pit rescue as well as a 1yr old daughter. I do not let my daughter climb on my pit, pull her ears or otherwise antagonize her (nor would i allow this with any animal). I dont ever leave them unsupervised. I trust my dog but as an owner it's my job to set her up for success, not failure. Often too many pit owners dont invest in their pitbulls by providing proper training, handling and respect, and the breed ends up with a bad rap when it's the human who failed. Less backyard breeding, more training and education would make for less bites. Sorry to ramble on but i am passionate about dogs.

Nope!! We own a pitty & she’s the biggest baby and a great cuddler! When our kids were small she would let them crawl all over her, she’s never shown aggression to anyone. She would sleep with our daughter and legitimately would sneak out after our daughter fell asleep, and if our daughter woke up crying in the night she’d go in there and lay in her bed. When our twin boys were babies she would sit by them all the time, and would lay in their room too. They don’t call them, “nanny dogs” for no reason! ☺️ Unfortunately she’s now 12 and isn’t as energetic or playful but still just as sweet as ever! 💕
