When did you share the joy?

Just found out one week ago I'm expecting my first baby in October. I'm only 4w3d. I have told my husband and my one best friend, who are both very excited:) I've taken 6 pregnancy tests-all being positive so I know it's true it's just hard to believe! I would love opionions on when it's best to tell your family. It's it ok to tell people you are pregnant before your first appointment? And how did you tell them?! Thanks!

I told my sisters because we went on a trip together  and they had a feeling I was pregnant before I find out. But I'm waiting for at least 12 wks to tell our parents. Last time, we told my husband parent at 6 wks and then the next day I had a miscarriage. I suggest if you plan to tell someone I suggest a close family member or friend at least, so you have one support. If it your first pregnancy it nice to have someone to talk to beside your husband.

We have told quite a few people already, I am 7 weeks. After my first ultrasound on the 24th we will tell everyone else.

Thanks for the advice! I'm so ready to tell the world, but I'm gonna wait as long as I can to be sure everything is ok! We told just my parents yesterday :)

Suggestion wait at least 12 weeks, if you miscarriage is very sad to start giving explanations that you were pregnant but then your baby died. Trust me, been there and Its horrible to give those news. 
​I wish someone told me this before getting all excited... Because doctors like to say Its more common than everybody thinks.

It's totally up to you and your DH.. We told our parents and my sister.  I also had to tell a co-worker due to the possible situations I could encounter at work.  We told everyone to please not tell anyone till the 12wk mark.  This is my first an I'm a little nervous! So far so good though :)

My OH doesn't really want anyone to know until after the 12weeks. I've told two friends (couldn't resist) and I am going to tell my parents when I next see them in a couple of weeks. I think my mum would be upset if she knew I wasn't going to tell her. I'm very close to my parents and want to see their faces when I tell them! Annoyingly, I have had to tell my boss due to the dangerous nature if part of my job.

It's all up to you and your DH, everyone is different. I have different ideas of how I want to tell everyone but am trying to wait it out until my first appointment in March. We will see if I make it.
