First doctor appointment?

I got my BFP and called my obgyn to set up my first appointment but they won't see me until I'm 10 weeks.. Not even for a conformation appt or blood test. Is this normal? I keep seeing posts of US and blood tests earlier than 10 weeks and I was just hoping to get some input!

They scheduled mine for 10 weeks, when I had my son and daughter it was around 6-8 weeks.

Same exact with me. 10 weeks is my first ultrasound. I was confused because I see on other boards women talking about their hcg levels increasing each week and heartbeats at 6 weeks and all that!

I just called my GP and I'll be 10 weeks as well. I was shocked as well.

I live in Canada and that's when they first book your app here unless you are high risk, they also don't routinely do u/s until 18-22 weeks here.

I did my confirmation bloods with my GP. he have me an undated u/s referral and told me to go any time from 6 weeks. I'm going to go at 6w5d. 
​Then I go back to my GP and he refers me to a midwife. 
​It's strange that different countries do it all so differently.

I already had my first apt, but don't actually go in for an ultrasound until next Thursday. I'll be almost 7 weeks by then.

Around here 8weeks is about normal, but sometimes if u have had previous MC u get in sooner!!!
