Alcohol intake prevent pregnancy??

Question

I'm a very social drinker(very social personality,so you could imagine), but I heard drinking alcohol messes up your fertility, do any of you know if this is true or any experiences?

I try not to worry about it too much. If u have night out on a Friday or Saturday and get pissed I don't think it would make much difference. When I conceived my son I was 18 & drunk every night! I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 10 weeks and was drinking & smoking as I had no idea (the feeling sick after a ciggie should have been a good sign but I thought nothing of it at the time) x

This angers me because I don't understand how this works when most the time drunken sex results in a pregnancy for a lot of women especially young teens -.-

Try searching pubmed.gov for "alcohol" and "fertility" or "fecundity" (number of months to conception). You'll find research studies there, and all you have to read is the free abstract/conclusion to find out what the study concluded! I know there have been lots of studies done!

I don't know what the research says but what I do is try to stay from alcohol during my fertile period. It's easy for me because I barely drink anyway. I'm also having difficulty getting pregnant so I'm staying away from everything that could possibly be an issue. Think about the fact TONS of women get pregnant on drunk, wild nights if that eases your mind!!! =)

Hi Michelle - you hears right. It does. Studies have shown that consistent drinking can delay conception by 2x.
