Push Presents?

Question

I've heard of women getting gifts as extravagant as cars, but diamond rings seem to be the norm.

Ladies, what do you think about "push presents?"

Is it ridiculous? Do you think that most men are aware of the concept? Share your insights!

In Germany it is common for women to wear three rings: an engagement ring, a wedding ring, and a motherhood ring given after the birth of the first child. I think that's a nice idea.

I think it originally started somewheres where women were rewarded (lack of a better word) for giving their family's a child or a male heir as then it just got expanded kinda. I like the idea, like nothing extravagant, I guess it all depends on the person right, I'd kill to have a mani/pedi done lol! Imagine being a full time stay at home mom running your own daycare business with toddler stunning around and a new born? A mani/pedi would be heaven haha!!

I got a $600 watch and some other lovely presents I can't recall just now.
​I wasn't expecting anything so it was a lovely surprise.
​Made me feel better about having a 9 pound baby. Lol

My dad bought my mom a peice of jewelry when she have birth to me and my siblings. Long before the idea of "push presents" existed. I think it's nice. She has a peice of jewelry that represents each of us and the incredible experience of giving birth. It doesn't have to be a new car or something over the top, but I think that as long as you are in a financial position to be able to afford a nice gift without it effecting your ability to provide for your new child, than it's very nice. I do not expect anything from my husband and my baby will be more than enough of a gift for me, but something pretty with the baby's birth stone or something would certainly be nice and appreciated. I think a new iPhone that you're going to replace in a year is stupid, but something you will have forever is nice.

I personally think it's silly. I do get flowers after having a baby but we do not call it a push present. My child is gift enough but I do appreciate the flowers. I've heard of woman I know getting iPhones, cars, engagement ring all kinds if ridiculous things. Way I see it is we all push out a baby so I don't see why they think they are some kind of special and need a new car ect I personally find it kinda selfish. Don't mean to offend.

I haven't heard of this my husband did buy a ring with our daughters birthstone right around the time I gave birth to her but I wasn't expecting anything. The only crazy thing he did was go out to babies r us and blow about 500 on silly baby things (trash cans, more clothes, etc) 
​I think the whole concept of buying your wife a new car for having your child is a bit ridiculous I'd rather that money go to a newly set up college fund for our new addition.

Most of my friends who have gotten push presents have gotten a ring that matches their wedding band and is worn outside the engagement ring. My engagement/wedding set is actually a 3 piece set with the idea that the 3rd piece is given as a push present/other monumental occasion. I will say most of my friends only got a present for with Baby #1 - not with each child.
