Issues with doctors. Uk ladies help!

I've just rang my gp to ask for a call back to discuss issues I'm having with my period. It's not an emergancy but I need to speak to someone. They've told me that isn't a good enough reason for a call back and I have to wait 2 weeks for an appt. has anyone experienced this problem with GP surgerys? Where can I go now for advice whilst waiting please? I'd appreciate any help.
