6 weeks 1 day & no heartbeat :(

I just got back from my first prenatal visit. The dr performed a transvaginal ultrasound. Little One measured at 6 weeks 1 day, but couldn't see a heartbeat. I have read a lot about 6 weeks being early to tell, so I don't  want to feel too sad just yet. That having been said, the dr was cautioning me to not get my hopes up and to just be realistic. He was really using it, even wanting to schedule D&C. I have another apt to go back in one week, but part of me wants to wait even longer to see if  a heartbeat will develop by 8 or 9 weeks.  I am also looking into getting a different dr. I understand the possibility of miscarriage, but I don't want it pushed on me.
