Question with conception and a previous male hernia surgery?

My husband, who is 45, had a hernia when he was younger; however, since it never bothered or hurt him he never had it taken care of until about 6 or so years ago. can a hernia cause problems with conception?! His doctor never expressed any concern when he was getting it done, but at the time my husband was my boyfriend and we were not engaged or trying to conceive. Any help or advice would be wonderful! thank you in advance!
