Positive thoughts
Sometime shortly after my miscarriage, I was sitting on my blue couch, crying. This was, in and of itself nothing unusual, as I cried a lot those days. What was unusual was that after I got done crying, I made a list called "The Next Steps". I still have it.
As too many of us know too well, having a miscarriage (or even getting your period) is very demoralizing when you are TTC. I think some of that is because you grieve for the possibilities of what might have been, but a huge part of it is - you feel so damn helpless. Powerless.
For many of us, this is the first time we have really tried to do something and failed. And the most maddening part is we don't even know WHY? Why is this not working?
"The Next Step" was my way taking back some of that power. Of taking control of the process. My steps included things like:
+ Quit job.
+ Enroll is gym class.
+ Throw out all junk food in the house.
+ Learn meditation. (Youtube?)
My list was a bit drastic because my miscarriage came at the end of my 4th year TTC and 4th IVF procedure. Your list does not have to be. (I am certainly not suggesting that anyone quit their jobs. 8-) But if you are frustrated, you feel overwhelmed, helpless - try making a "The Next Steps" list - even if it just one item.
It's a great way to think in positive way and to take back some control over this process.
So, what is your next step?
