Purple/grey period?

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a purple grey color instead of red or brown right as a period starts? My cycle is usually 28-32 days and this time it was 51. I took hpts and none of them were positive.

Yes; I am having my first period after many many months, and initially to start it was a purplish color which I've never seen before. I was told this means old blood. But it changed to red soon after :)
