Breast feeding - should I?

Question

I had planned to bf my first child however my mother put me off the idea by saying it's hard work and easier to bottle feed...so I did! Same with my 2nd - much to the doctors disapproval.
​However almost everyone I know has at least done it for a few week so I'm debating about wether I should with my 3rd (due march 2015) I really wish I hadn't listened to my mum as she seems to be the only one that thinks like that.
​I feel a bit embarrassed about doing it now but I'm sure this will be my last child and I'd like to try it.

Why wouldn't you at least try it... I don't care what anyone says breastfeeding is amazing and has lots of health benefits for not only baby but mom to. Who cares what your mom thinks do the best thing for your baby... Not doing it because your mom told you not to seems like your not making a huge decision for yourself and letting we do it for you.

I got so many negative comments about breast feeding similar to what you've been told like it's too much work, it's disgusting! I would tell them 1st of all THESE ARE MY BREASTS, you don't need to be concerned with what I do with my body! Second, this was the purpose of having breasts to feed your offspring to survive, they weren't meant to be sexual! Third, the most hardwork I experienced was the first few weeks and getting the hang of it. It's a lot less work than bottle feeding. I didn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to clean a bottle, then make the formula, I just popped out the boob and back to sleep I go! I never had to stress with sanitizing bottles, changing formulas because your breast milk is especially designed for your baby. I will also say this my daughter is the least to get sick out of the 6 grandchild that were born close to her, she was the only breast fed one!!!

It should be your choice and yours alone. It may be work but what about taking care of a kid *isn't* work? You can always try it and if it doesn't work out, switch to formula. It doesn't hurt to try.

You do what feels right for you. If you want to breast feed go for it, if you don't want to then don't :) completely up to you :) I'm pregnant with twins and I'm leaning towards bottles mainly for the reason of knowing how much they have and also being able to have help feeding them.

My mom tried to talk me out of breastfeeding also! I did it anyway & I have to say it's soooo easy!!! I loved it...you should try it. Only you will know what will work for you

Its so good for your baby ! Babies that are breast fed are known to have higher iqs !

Breast feeding is definitely easier, in my opinion. No bottles to wash, the temperature of the milk is always right, you can do it anywhere (that you're comfortable with), formula is expensive and the bond you get from breast feeding is unlike any other. It's a shame your mom discouraged you from doing it with your other kids. That doesn't seem fair. Good luck to you!

Breast feeding has been very easy for us . Of course I have nothing else to compare it too but I have been nursing my oldest for 13 months , and now were expecting our second in march .. I plan on tandem nursing ?

Ive breastfed both of mine for at least 8 months. The bonding experience is magical! And the health benefits to your baby are amazing. There's also the added benefit of faster weight loss after giving birth because you burn 500 calories a day just making milk! It's so convenient, and cheaper than formula. I plan to breast feed this one too!

my mother discouraged against it with my first one so I didnt.  but my 2nd I attempted n 3rd I did n im def bf with this one.  its a wonderful experience
