If you are used to be with cats around you - than there will be nothing what can harm you if you do common hygienic ..  Maybe take a blood work for 'Toxoplasmosis' - if you stayed already with cats you got this infection already and than you'll be safe. If you didn't - you should stay away from the litter box! I think no 'normal' person would do something without washing hands after beeing with an animal! No reason to panic. Maybe stay away from your MIL's place...

Cats that go outdoors can get bacteria in their poop that when ingested or inhaled by a pregnant woman will attack the unborn fetus. That's why it's recommended for pregnant women to avoid changing litter boxes
