It can be circulation but also how the baby is positioned. There are nerves running down the side of your body and when baby is on them it can cause numbness/tingling. It can also cause nausea, which is why they don't recommend laying on your right side.

Happens to me a lot when I'm sleeping! Glad I'm not the only one. I think it's probably poor circulation due to large blood supply going to the baby. I plan to ask my doctor about it at my next visit.
