This is so sad to me. My dad died when I was 9 and I think about him every day cherish your family❤️

​But he also died in May so I kinda miss him.

​Even though dad's can be assholes, make sure they know you love them! You may miss him in the future when he's gone.

I love my dad, but only just bc he's my  dad. He's definately an asshole & most of my adult relationship w/him is more out of guilt & obligation than bc of actual caring & desire for one. I know he doesn't want to be the way he is which makes it hard for me to turn my back on him but the fact of life is that he is. PERIOD. It's not healthy for me or my children having him around for many reasons even if he does mean well. All he does is cause problems & do damage. I can't have that around my family. I can't allow him to do to them what he did to me for so many years. We've talked he's had his chances, he just can't change & therefore refuses to believe that he has a problem & rewrites history to make it what he wants so he can justify himself or live with a situation without having to have guilt bc it's always "someone else's" fault.

Mine is an awesome dad, but my fil makes me so mad. He was never around for my wife when she was growing up and even now that he lives in the same state not even twenty minutes away, he still can't be bothered. I hate him for the way he makes her cry. 
​But now he might have lung cancer, so I can't call him out on it.
