NHS let down?

Question

Hi everyone,

Im from the uk and im just wondering how many weeks etc you were when you all got your first scan?

Im currently 12 weeks 3 days and i still to this day have not had any professional even confirm my pregnancy!

Ive given urine samples and had bloods taken but recieved no results...i just feel alone like the NHS have just sort of left me :-(

It's standard. You should have an appointment for your scan though. Regarding tests it's a no news is good news situation. Your pregnancy test is just as conclusive as any test done by a doctor and a healthy woman of child bearing age who isn't having a period is more than likely pregnant. So if you've not experienced any bleeding you can just look forward to your scan! I know how you feel though. I'm a first timer and feel a bit like . . . Is that it!?

Hmm, I don't think that's quite right. You should have an appointment with your midwife, round about the 9 week mark and then a scan booked for your 12th week. I would phone up and complain.

I'm 10 weeks and met my midwife today, she did bloods ect. But I got my ultrasound appointment through last week. It's for beginning of December when I'll be 13 weeks. Maybe give your local midwife team a call?

I'm in the uk to. My first and second pregnancies both scans were around 12 weeks then 20, second pregnancy I had more scans. My friend is pregnant now and had a scan a 12 weeks and 20 weeks. I'm only 4 wks 2 days now.

I am from the UK too and now 19 weeks with my first. I know how you feel. I just wanted someone to do a pregnancy test to confirm it even though I did about 6 tests myself at home! I agree with the others though that you should have received a date for a scan. I got mine through when I was 7 weeks. I will be 12 weeks 2 days when I have the scan which in three weeks time. Before that you should have another blood test about a week before which is part of the Down Syndrome test

Continued ...... I am so frightened about miscarriage, I don't live near my family, my partners amazing but he's as new as this to me... I'm sure I'm oversensitive as its my first, but I do feel completely alone ... :-(

I too feel totally alone. I made a doctors appointment when I found out, was made a midwife appointment and went through an hour booking appointment (strange considering they hadn't confirmed I was actually pregnant). I then had to go off and provide a urine sample and go to the pharmacy and get a blood test. This was a week ago, I was given no info about if-when I was going to hear anything - what I should expect to hear etc. My scan has been booked for November 21st, I will be just 11 weeks. I have known since I was 4 weeks and I had been so stressed I had to pay for a private scan to ease my mind because the wait without contact/advice/ confirmation has been so long I am going crazy ... I have been referred back to our local metal health service because I suffer with extreme anxiety (and depression at times) and it is on my medical record and my pregnancy notes and I have had no support.
