Do you tell others you will pray for them?

Yes.  Everybody can used a prayer from time to time.  It does not hurt no one :) I always pray for the whole world and people I know and don't know :).

I live in south Georgia, and with certain people that i know personally, it is an appropriate response that means 'im concerned about you and your problem, youll be on my mind and i wish you well with it'. 
I would never say this to a stranger that i wasnt having a religious conversation with. Or with someone that i know that isnt that sort of religious person. I dont even mean that ill actually pray, i mean that i wish them well and thats it. 
Thats a VERY condescending thing to say otherwise, and i would NEVER say it to anyone on here unless they specifically asked for it.

I do say it. Picked yes everyone. Yet, I did say this to an atheist. They said thank you but told me they don't  believe in God. I said okay well I'll keep you in my thoughts. So I wouldn't knowingly say I will pray to an atheist. And I hope they wouldn't be inconsiderate to me because I do pray and believe in God. Just wanted to share.

I am not Christian but when someone's asking for prayers that I know is Christian I often say something like "thoughts and prayers to you." If they are ill or someone they know is ill I will say, "healing light sent" or if someone is sad "loving energy sent."  The only time I am bothered by the "I will pray for you." Is if it is said in a discussion about religion and meant as in "I know you aren't Christian and therefore you are wrong so I will pray for you."  If someone is simply offering a "I'll pray for you" as a way of saying "I know you are going through a hard time so I will pray for you." Then it doesn't bother me.  If someone knows I am pagan and informs me I am going to hell and they will pray for my soul, I will simply say "and I will dance naked in the forest for you."  But a general "I will pray for you to be better or I will keep you in my prayers" I am ok with. :)

No. If my friend asks me to pray for her, I will say "I'll try" and then I pray for her quickly right then and there in my head. Because I know realistically I am not going to remember to pray for her.

I tell everyone I'll pray for them. I know bit everyone believes the way I do but as Christians we are supposed to live like Christ and show his love. How am I going to witness to anyone if I won't even say "I'll pray for you" in fear if offending them. I've said it to people and they have told me they don't believe in prayer and I nicely say "still I'll pray, couldn't hurt right?"

I say I will, but only if they tell me they will first.

I had a very good friend of mine cut me out of her life because of my beliefs and at the end of our last conversation she said she'd pray for me. I told her I'd pray for her as well.

But other than instances like that, I don't say it.
